Quick answer: For student and course-progress records, start in Assets → Courses → Students. Choose the course filter before exporting: it changes which course data is included for your selected learners.
This guide follows official help instructions; no export file was tested for this article. Use the short file check below before relying on a download.
Pick the export that matches your question
Student and course-progress records → Use the Students export below.
A contact list → Use CRM → Contacts → More actions → Export. This is a separate export route.
A learner’s activity during a period → Use their enrollment’s Export session log report. Activity is recorded only when Store student sessions is enabled.
One course or all enrolled courses?
Separate two choices: which learners you select, and which course data you need for them.
SELECTED LEARNERS
Which course data should their export include?
FILTER APPLIED
↓ Data for that course
NO FILTER
↓ Data across their enrolled courses
↓ Review the CSV against your intended scope
Keep your export small enough to review. Write down the intended course and learner selection before clicking Export.
Request and retrieve the student CSV
Workspace owners and admins can select learners in Students, choose Export to CSV, and select columns and a delimiter.
The official instructions say the email goes to the workspace owner; the link lasts three days. Admins should arrange retrieval with the owner.
Open the file before calling the job done
Use your spreadsheet application’s CSV import with the delimiter you selected. Keep the original unchanged and review a working copy.
1 · PEOPLE
Does the file match your intended learner selection?
2 · COURSES
Does the course coverage match your filter choice?
3 · FIELDS
Do the actual headers and values contain the information you need?
If a needed field is missing, record the gap. Do not fill it from memory or assume another platform can restore it.
Copy a private export note
Purpose: [what I need this file for]
Requested: [date, time and time zone]
Learners selected: [private references]
Course filter: [named course / no filter]
Columns and delimiter: [actual choices]
File opened: [yes / no]
People, course scope and fields match: [yes / no / unclear]
Gap and next action: [one concrete step]
Store exports privately. Do not publish learner names, email addresses, progress records or download links.
Finish with a checked record
You can finish here when the file opens and its scope matches your purpose. A CSV alone does not complete a course migration: check the destination’s required fields, rebuilt materials, access and progress separately.
Planning a move? Continue with Moving Your Course? Check More Than the Student List. If your current course works, an export check does not create a reason to leave it.
